Frequently asked questions

  • How many smart modules are required and where are they installed?

First, based on your address, our artificial intelligence service analyzes your building and its structure using high resolution LIDAR images. It automatically detects the locations to be monitored on the roof, taking into account the presence of levels and your exposure to various weather risk factors. A recommendation will then be made based on this analysis, the size of the building and the knowledge of the building manager. Thanks to our technology, it is possible to model the risk on the whole roof from a limited quantity of modules.

  • Does the system need to be bolted down?

No, absolutely not! Our solution is freestanding and removable, with no complex installation or mounting required. The connected module is simply placed on the roof and remains securely in place (without fastening) thanks to secure self-supporting bases. This is the same type of base used to install self-supporting guardrails on buildings to ensure the safety of workers.

  • Where and how are the data and recommendations posted?

Once your roof is connected, you will be able to track the level of risk in real time and access your smart recommendations in your account via a web platform, mobile app or possibly through your building manager's customer area.

  • Is Domely's smart roofing solution useful in summer?

Yes, the intelligent modules provide 360° visual access to your roof at all times. Our AI also allow us to proactively detect wear and tear on the coating or abnormal water flow on the roof due to a clogged drain, for example.

  • How do you know if my building is at risk of structural collapse or failure?

Our intelligent roofing offer precisely analyzes the load of accumulations on your roof. This measurement is then related to the safe load capacity of your building according to the building code.

It is also possible to easily modify this threshold if a customized structural analysis has been performed previously.

  • What data is being collected?

Obviously, no personal data is collected. The information recorded is from our sensors and multiple weather stations and feeds our artificial intelligence models. Our technology allows the detection of several observations at the building level such as humidity, extreme temperature variations, freezing and thawing, precipitation, snow and ice accumulations, density, water equivalent on the roof, etc.

  • As a Domely customer, how you I contribute socially?

By protecting multiple buildings and expanding across Canada, we are creating a vast network of building-level data to map multiple risk factors. By leveraging this data through a unique data service and making this data available to academic research, we aim to create levers for preventive action and make our cities more connected, safe and resilient. We can improve our collective understanding of the impacts of climate change on our infrastructure.
